HOW-TO PARK

HOW DO I START A PARKING SESSION?
Starting a parking session is easy. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Park Car
  2. Start a parking session using one of the following options:
  3. Enter Zone, Vehicle Info, and Duration & Payment Information.
  4. Confirm Your Parking Session.
  5. Shop/Dine/Enjoy!

WHAT IS PARKRTC MOBILE PAY PARKING & HOW DOES IT WORK?
ParkRTC is a gateless, ticketless parking system based on license plate recognition. Upon entry, available parking spaces will be illuminated with a green light indicator and once you’ve parked the system will read your vehicle license plate.  After parking, you need to pay for parking with one of the following payment options:

  1. ParkRTC App (download: App Store or Play Store)
  2. Online at parkrtc.ppprk.com
  3. Phone: 571-485-7790
  4. Pay Stations (cash and credit cards accepted)

Parking with the ParkRTC app provides the best parking experience:

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR PARKRTC?
Download the ParkRTC app from the App Store or Play Store) to complete a one-time registration process. Simply enter either a phone number or email address for verification. Depending on your selected method, a 3 digit code will be sent to you. Once you verify this code in the app your registration is complete!

Tip: there’s no need for additional family members or out-of-town guests to register separately; you can add an unlimited number of vehicles to your account, including rental cars.

WHAT ZONE AM I PARKED IN?
Each garage has only 1 zone number. Zone numbers are posted on signs at garage entrance, by parking spaces, in the elevator, within stairwell lobbies and at the pay stations. Here is a map of the locations for your reference (link to map)

HOW DO I USE A PARKING PAY STATION TO PAY FOR PARKING?
New and easier to use PARK & PAY stations are located at Garage Pay Stations. Enhanced features include: no app required, swipe credit card, easy to apply validation, pay with cash and receive change.  Locations of Pay Stations:

The Easy-to-use Park RTC App is available online at www.ParkRTC.com or by telephone at 571-485-7790.

Note: Check are not accepted

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD?
You can use the Pay Stations on site.  See the How do I use a parking pay station to pay for parking? FAQ for details.

WHAT IF I HAVE A DISABLED PLACARD OR PLATE?
Customers with a DMV-issued disabled placard or permit will be able to park in designated parking spots both on-street and in the parking garages. Parking rates apply.

HOW DO MOTORCYCLE RIDERS PAY?
Motorcycle riders have four convenient ways to pay:

  1. ParkRTC App (download: App Store or Play Store)
  2. Online at parkrtc.ppprk.com
  3. Phone: 571-485-7790
  4. Pay Stations (cash and credit cards accepted)

There is currently motorcycle parking in the Green, Purple, and Orange Garages, but motorcycles can park in any garage space available. There is no discount for motorcycle parking.

DOES RESTON TOWN CENTER HAVE PUBLIC TRANSIT ACCESS OR BIKE PARKING?
While we encourage customers to take advantage of free parking on weekends, week nights after 5:00 pm, major events, and holidays, Reston Town Center also has bicycle parking and access to public transportation systems. More information is available at www.linkinfo.org.

Reston Town Center has partnered with Fairfax County to place a Capital Bikeshare location within Reston Town Center at the corner of Library St. and Freedom Dr. We plan to add additional bicycle parking throughout Reston Town Center.

I’M AN EMPLOYEE WHO WORKS IN RTC, DO I NEED THE PARKRTC APP?
If you are a monthly parker and permit holder, you do not need to download the app. Please contact your office manager for any additional questions.


PAYMENT

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARK?
New garage parking rates effective 6/5/2017

Street parking is ONLY free on Sundays and federal holidays.

ARE THERE ANY FREE PARKING, DISCOUNTS OR VALIDATION OPPORTUNITIES?
Garage parking on weekends (from 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 12:00 a.m. Monday) are free, as are major holidays, premier events and weekdays after 5:00 p.m.

Street parking is ONLY free on Sundays and federal holidays.

FREE PARKING will be available on the following holidays and events through 2019 in both the Garages and the Street parking:

In addition, convenient, free, short-term parking spaces will be available near establishments such as FedEx, dry cleaners, food pick up and the CVS pharmacy.

Participating shops and restaurants, the fitness center and cinema will provide validation options. The validation code will be given by participating retailers and can be entered into the ParkRTC app or the credit card Pay Stations in one of the four garages. Please see www.restontowncenter.com/parking or contact shops or restaurants directly for more information.

Note: retail staff are not required to pay for parking.

HOW DO I ADD/DELETE A PAYMENT CARD?
From ‘My Account’, go to the ‘Payment’ page. Select ‘Add Card’, then enter and save your new card information. To delete a card, choose the card you wish to remove, then tap ‘Delete Card’.

HOW DO I USE MY VALIDATION?
You can ONLY validate a parking session if you started a parking session from the ParkRTC app (download: App Store or Play Store), credit card Pay Stations, or the Mobile Pay Website (parkrtc.ppprk.com). You CANNOT validate a parking session if you chose the cash Pay Station option or if you called 571-485-7790 to start your session. If you are eligible for parking validation, please ensure you take the following steps:

  1. Start a parking session.
  2. Shop/Dine/Enjoy, then receive a validation code.
  3. In the ParkRTC app:
    1. View the “Active Session” screen, then select “Session Options” and choose validations.
    2. Enter validation code.
    3. Press “Continue.”

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO RECEIVE PARKING VALIDATIONS?
You can ONLY validate a parking session if you started a parking session from the ParkRTC app (download: App Store or Play Store), credit card Pay Stations, or the Mobile Pay Website (parkrtc.ppprk.com). You CANNOT validate a parking session if you chose the cash Pay Station option or if you called 571-485-7790 to start your session. If you are eligible for parking validation, please ensure you take the following steps:

  1. Start a parking session.
  2. Shop/Dine/Enjoy, then receive a validation code.
  3. In the ParkRTC app:
    1. View the “Active Session” screen, then select “Session Options” and choose validations.

WILL SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS VALIDATE PARKING FOR CUSTOMERS?
Yes, participating shops and restaurants such as the fitness center and cinema will provide validation options in store. The validation numeric code that you receive can be entered directly into your ParkRTC application or the Credit Card Pay Station. Please see www.restontowncenter.com/parking/parking-validation or contact shops or restaurants directly for more information.

Please note: customers paying via the cash pay station or phone are not able to use validations.

IS SHORT-TERM STREET PARKING AVAILABLE?
Yes, short-term street parking is available throughout Reston Town Center. There are convenient, free, parking spaces near establishments such as FedEx, dry cleaners, food pick up and the CVS Pharmacy. Here is a map of the locations for reference: link to map

WILL I HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY CREDIT CARD, TRANSACTION AND/OR PROCESSING FEES ON TOP OF THE STATED PARKING RATES WHEN PAYING FOR PARKING?
No. Boston Properties will pay for all of these fees.

WILL I BE CHARGED FOR THE TIME IT TAKES ME TO PARK MY CAR?
No, your credit card will not be charged until your parking session has ended.

CAN I PURCHASE A MONTHLY PASS?
Yes, on-site staff will help roll out this easy-to-use program for purchase of monthly passes or online wallets. Monthly passes will be available for purchase for $70.00 a month. You can purchase your monthly passes at rtcpermits.rmcpay.com.

CAN I PAY FOR OTHER PEOPLE’S PARKING?
Just as you would do with your own space or vehicle information, you can pay for another person’s parking with the app. Enter the zone, followed by the respective space or the license plate number parked in the location. Thanks for being generous!


 

ACCOUNT

HOW DO I ADD ANOTHER LICENSE PLATE NUMBER TO MY ACCOUNT?
From the side-menu, go to the ‘Vehicles’ page. You can add new vehicles or modify existing ones.

HOW DO I RESET MY PIN?
To reset your PIN, click ‘Reset PIN’ when prompted to provide your PIN code. You will be able to reset your PIN immediately, but for security reasons your credit cards will be removed from your account.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE EMAIL ADDRESS ON MY ACCOUNT?
You can log into the ParkRTC app or parkrtc.ppprk.com to change your email address. From side-menu, go to ‘Profile’ and update your email address. If you signed up for theParkRTC app with your email address, you may not be able to edit it in the app or website. Please contact us to make the update for you.

HOW DO I CHANGE/UPDATE THE MOBILE PHONE NUMBER ON MY ACCOUNT?
You will need to create a new account in order to change/update your phone number. To create a new account, please uninstall the app then install it again and input your new mobile phone number.

HOW DO I DEACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT?
To deactivate your account you must go to parkrtc.ppprk.com. Log in and select ‘Profile’ from the menu, then select deactivate account. You may need to enter additional information if we expect to issue you a balance refund.

WILL I MY LICENSE PLATE AND PAYMENT INFORMATION BE SECURE?
Yes. ParkRTC, is hosted by Passport Labs, Inc., which stores all details in accordance with the privacy policy. More information about Passport Labs, Inc. can be found at passportinc.com.

IF I UTILIZE RESIDENTIAL PARKING, HOW DO I HANDLE GUEST PARKING?
Reston Town Center does not manage the residential designated parking areas. Please contact your HOA manager for further information.

WHAT IS THE ENFORCEMENT POLICY FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS?
The system will issue a notice that will be placed on your vehicle if you do not start a parking session with the one of the payment options: ParkRTC app (download: App Store or Play Store), Pay Stations, Mobile Pay Website (parkrtc.ppprk.com), or phone (571-485-7790). If you did not start a parking session, our system will record license plate and you will be subject to vehicle immobilization in the future.

Note: we will not tow your vehicle.


TROUBLESHOOTING

WHY WOIN’T THE APP LET ME EXTEND MY TIME?
If you can’t extend your time it could be because you have already reached the maximum stay allowed by the parking operator. You may no longer be eligible to park in that zone, or you may need to start a new session, depending upon the rules set by the parking operator.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE A TEMPORARY LICENSE PLATE?
If you are parking a vehicle with a temporary license plate, please enter the temporary license plate number and state into the application and use it for the session. You can add your permanent license plate information later once you receive it.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN THE APP FREEZES?
Please uninstall, then reinstall the app. If that doesn’t remedy the issue, please hit the ‘Contact Us’ button. Our support team will get back to you promptly.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I ENTERED AN INCORRECT LICENSE PLATE NUMBER?
Please contact your local parking operator and they will be happy to assist you. Note that if you entered the incorrect space number / license plate number your parking session is not valid.

WHY CAN’T I RESET MY PIN?
If you received an error stating that your PIN could not be reset, we need to manually verify additional information on your account. Please reach out to our support team via the ‘Contact Us’ button so we can quickly resolve the issue!

WHY WAS PARKRTC INTRODUCED AT RESTON TOWN CENTER?
The continued development of Reston Town Center has seen growth as a community and a commuter destination and there is an opportunity to utilize the latest in technology to provide the best car parking experience for our customers. Reston Town Center has designed this state of the art system to ease congestion, lower emissions and fuel consumption, streamline entry and exits, and enable customers to locate parking spaces more easily.

WHAT CONSULTATION TOOK PLACE?
Reston Town Center is a unique environment that operates as an urban mixed use environment. This is also known as “Second City”. In order to preserve the parking rights of our visitors and at the same time enhance our customer’s experience, we extensively researched all options and identified the ParkRTC model. Reston Town Center has been reviewing customer recommendations and feedback for several years, especially concerns about the availability of parking spaces during busy shopping periods.

No, Reston Town Center is privately funded by ownership, Boston Properties.
